4 stepts to lead in the digital era

There are thousands of digital tools, and often we don’t know where to start using them in our organization. In this blog, we share four steps to get started. What truly matters isn’t the tools themselves but the habits and rituals you cultivate within your team to foster continuous learning.

To lead with a digital mindset, it’s crucial to focus on the process just as much—if not more—than the final outcome. Encourage your team’s curiosity to try new things and collaborate while learning together.

Here are 4 steps we follow at Propel:

1. Set a Clear Goal: Don’t use a tool just because everyone else is using it. Identify your biggest challenge and find the best tool to help you solve it. We’ve created a guide to help you evaluate a tool before you start using it.

2. Empower Your Team: Trust your team and assign them challenges. You don’t need to hire external help—there are thousands of tutorials and no-code tools your team can learn and test from scratch (regardless of their role). For example, with ChatGPT, our first challenge was to implement it for a task. Later, the team dared to create custom GPTs to make processes more efficient.

3. Start Small: Begin with easy tasks and basic features to master each tool. At Propel, we used to hire freelancers to make changes to our website. This year, we challenged ourselves to make small edits on our own until we learned how to create entire landing pages.

4. Make It a Priority: Incorporate using new tools into each team or area’s objectives. Encourage sharing experiences during the process so no one feels alone. At Propel, our favorite ritual is “AI Shout Outs.” Each week, a team member shares a new AI tool they tried and their experience with it.

Start applying these steps with your team. On November 20th, we’ll be hosting the event “Lead with a Digital Mindset,” where Rodrigo Isasi, a digital transformation expert, will share more tips. Sign up here.
